Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion or BLEVE. In case of fire in a tank or vessel in which the pressure valves are damaged is extremely dangerous. Pipelines which are sealed from/to the tank are also extremely dangerous. In case of fire, the pressure in the tank can rise so high that the tank will rupture.

BLEVE
The wall of the tank collapsed because of the heating of gas present inside the tank. It is difficult to predict when BLEVE will occur. If the tank wall is heated up above the level of the liquid, weakening can be expected rapidly.

The method to prevent BLEVE is by cooling. The safety valve installed on the tank releases pressure, but that doesn’t mean that BLEVE cannot occur. The higher the whistle sound of the safety valve, the higher the pressure inside the tank. When the tank is heated up it will become round.

The escape of product from a cylinder filled with compressed gas can be of great risk. Escaping gas from the tank can be mixed with water spray. The product can be mixed in such a way that it is not harmful. Provide continuous cooling of the cylinder so that we can keep the product LEL to a minimum.

ACETYLENE when heated up causes an increase in pressure. But if there is a hit or other physical impact on the cylinder can atomize the product in the cylinder creating energy.
