Internal combustion engine

Gasoline and air mixed together to form a mixture to form an explosive mixture. The basic function of the engine is to convert the explosion energy into motion. For containing the explosion the engine uses a cylinder and fitted inside sliding cylinder which move up and down.

Inside the cylinder an electrical spark ignite compressed gasoline and air. The hot gas from the piston will push the piston down. The piston is connected to crankshaft by a connecting rod. Crankshaft converts up and down motion to rotary motion. The crankshaft drive's the rear wheel through various machinery.

This figure shows and another prospective of how a cylinder is driven.

At the top of the cylinder valve will let in the gasoline and air mixture. For increasing power and smoothness modern engine have number of cylinder driving one crankshaft.

Gasoline from the tank is pumped by fuel pump to the carburetor or through the fuel liner. The carburetor mixes the gasoline with air into an explosive mixture that drives piston.

In carburetor a linkage is connected to the accelerator pad with a valve in the carburetor . Stepping on the pad opens the valve wider increasing the gas flow and speeding up the engine & easing out on the pad will reduce the flow and slows down. A carburetor have air filter fitted at the top.

The engine electrical system will supply the spark for ignition. when crankshaft rotates the generator connected to it to charge the battery. The battery is connected to a coil to boost the voltage to get the spark. Then the coil is connected to a distributor which distribute electricity to various spark plugs located in the cylinder.

Distributor

"The distributor distributes electrical current to the proper spark plug, at the proper time."

Inside the distributor there is a rotor, which when turns touches series of contact that are wired to the spark plugs.

So these are the main electrical part system of engine to brief it up:

  1. ‌Generator
  2. ‌Battery
  3. ‌Booster coil
  4. ‌Distributor
  5. ‌Spark plugs.
